Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the rebate, ensure the following conditions are met:

Natural Gas Account: Your home must have a residential FortisBC natural gas account. If you’re not the utility account holder, a Utility Account Holder Consent form must be completed.

Primary Residence: The property must be a year-round primary residence at least 12 months old. Eligible properties include single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes, row homes, townhouses, and mobile homes on permanent foundations. New constructions, additions, and garage upgrades do not qualify.

Application Timing: Applications must be submitted within six months of the invoice payment date. Rebates cannot exceed the invoice's paid amount.
Specific Requirements for Dual Fuel Systems

Invoice Date: Must be dated on or after July 1, 2024.

System Replacement: Must replace an existing gas furnace that is at least 10 years old.

System Specifications: Must be a new central ducted air source heat pump integrated with a new high-efficiency gas furnace.

Professional Installation: Must be installed by a Technical Safety BC licensed gas contractor registered with the Home Performance Contractor Network.

Eligible Systems: Must be listed on the rebate eligible product list with an AHRI certified reference number.

Thermostat Settings: For Fraser Valley, the thermostat or control board must switch over at ≤5°C.

Commissioning: The system must undergo commissioning to ensure proper installation and operation. A copy of the completed commissioning sheet must be available upon request.

Proper Sizing: A program-approved heat load calculation is required for accurate system sizing. Rule of thumb equipment sizing is not accepted.

Installation Guidelines: Must follow the Heat Pump Best Practices Installation Guide for Existing Homes and the High-Efficiency Furnace Installation Guide for Existing Houses.

Connected Thermostat: Must be installed by a licensed contractor at the same time as the new dual fuel system.

Exclusions: Warranty replacements and insurance claims are not eligible.
